EVENTS PLANNED FOR THE TERM OF THE PRESENT

Psychiatric Rehabilitation Training
The first course was held in Oct 2003
jointly with IMH and SSTI The next is planned for mid-2004 and thereafter
courses will be held once or twice yearly to meet the basic requirement
for all psychiatric rehabilitation practitioners
IAPSRS Psychiatric Rehabilitation
Certification Program
A yearly examination leading to
certification by the International Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation
Services is planned to be held locally. The first will be held on 27 March
2004. This will be the first held outside the Western Hemisphere.
Workshops
Workshops will be held twice yearly for
practitioners to share experiences, skills and knowledge.
Conference
A conference in psychiatric rehabilitation
will be held in 2005/6.
Training
Training for caregivers, volunteers and
self-care for mental healthcare workers will be conducted.
Public education/awareness
Advocacy for improvements in the mental
health care system leading to better treatment, employment opportunities
etc. will be carried out.
Research
Research into psychiatric rehabilitation
related issues will be looked into.
Longer Term Plans
These include regional and international
conferences as well as a referred journal in psychiatric rehabilitation.
